A Portrait That Speaks What Words Cannot
Some gifts are forgotten by the following week. Others are treasured for generations.
A hand-painted portrait isn’t just a picture of someone — it’s an expression of how much they mean to you. It says: you are seen. You are remembered. You matter enough to be captured in paint, in pencil, in something made entirely by hand, entirely for you.
Whether you’re marking a milestone birthday, honouring a parent’s legacy, celebrating a new arrival, or simply wanting to give something that no shop could ever sell — a custom portrait by Rob McCormack carries a weight and warmth that photographs alone never quite capture.
Each piece is painted from the heart, taking one to four weeks to complete, and arrives framed and ready to hang — or ready to take someone’s breath away when the wrapping comes off.
"Being from Ireland, living in NZ and losing both my parents in such a short space of time, Robert has given me the ability to bring them to NZ to watch over my children and family - which is the most precious gift in the world."

Perfect for: significant birthdays, wedding anniversaries, memorials, and anyone you love enough to immortalise in paint.
"I am deeply moved by the beautiful painting of my late father. This painting is more than just a piece of art; it is a cherished memory. I will hold it close to my heart forever. It stands at the top of my stairs so I happily get to see it daily, and it always brings a smile."

Notable Commission Spotlight: The Elephant in the Room
When Art Meets Advocacy
A Commission for “The Elephant in the Room” Movement
Andre Agassi · Sugar Ray Leonard
In one of Rob's most significant commissions to date, Brent Pope, founder of The Elephant in the Room mental health movement, commissioned two portraits for the Pendulum Summit in January 2025. The brief: paint Andre Agassi and Sugar Ray Leonard directly onto a life-size plastic elephant, the movement's signature symbol.
Both portraits were hand-painted in oils, capturing the intensity and humanity of two of the world's most recognised sporting icons. The finished piece was unveiled at the summit, where both Agassi and Leonard saw their portraits in person.
"I first came across Rob's work at Art Source and knew straight away he had something special. When I needed a portrait artist for The Elephant in the Room movement, I got in touch with him. He understood what we needed, delivered truly impressive portraits and both Andre Agassi and Sugar Ray loved them and signed the elephant."

“Stories from clients”
"This breathtaking oil painting perfectly captures the moody Irish weather on the day of my wedding. From the intensity of our stare to the fine details of my husband's hair, no photo could ever match it. I'll cherish it forever."

"Rob captured one of my favourite people at one of our favourite locations, the Poolbeg lighthouse. The painting of Dad is so alive - I could even see the horizon reflected in his sunglasses. A spectacular memory with incredible attention to detail."
